Fireworks are classified as explosives (UN 0335 & UN 0336) and therefore subject to regulation under ADR when transported for commercial purposes within the U.K. and Europe. They fall under category 1 for hazardous goods i.e. explosives, and as such are prohibited from most forms of public transport dependent on quantity. Individuals can carry up to 50kgs of fireworks for personal use without incurring regulation under the carriage of dangerous goods provisions. However, if this quantity is exceeded then the provisions for the domestic carriage of dangerous goods apply and drivers have to be qualified accordingly.
